Soroptimist International of Coeur d’Alene is asking for nominations for its annual Women of Distinction Awards with categories from arts and culture to community service.
Nominations are due Jan. 30 and winners will be honored Feb. 21 in the Coeur d’Alene Room at North Idaho College.
🎭 Culture
Alice by Heart, an imaginative musical that explores themes of grief and whimsy, opens Jan.
30 at 7:30 p.m. at Lake City Playhouse with local and visiting talent + runs through Feb. 16 with tickets available online.
🎓 Education
David Groth, who retired in 2016 after 37 years teaching at Sorensen Magnet School of the Arts and Humanities, remains a cherished figure in our community as he continues to enjoy the region’s rivers, lakes + natural beauty ever since he moved here in 1982.
East Valley School District officials have proposed a new bond to fund much-needed school upgrades, with plans to review the measure in upcoming board meetings.
The proposal aims to address facility needs as the district seeks better learning environments.
