- ➤ On March 12 at 7:30 p.m., the internationally acclaimed U.S. Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors will perform a free concert at the Schuler Performing Arts Center in Coeur d'Alene. Jay Carkhuff from North Idaho College will host the event featuring swing + bebop + Latin jazz. Coeur d'Alene Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ McKenzie Chan of Post Falls will join the Peace Corps to train as an elementary English teacher in Costa Rica beginning on March 15. The Seattle Pacific University 2025 graduate will work with local schools to boost English instruction (joining 29 other Idaho volunteers). Coeur d'Alene Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Northern Lakes Fire District broke ground on its new $1.2 million Station 3 (located at the intersection of Garwood Road and Lekstrum Road) on Thursday. Bidding is underway for the 8,100-sqft station that will boost emergency response across a 108-square-mile area and finish in early 2027. Coeur d'Alene Press
