- ➤ The Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber will host the 2025 Career and Business Expo on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. - ➤ Bryan Kohberger's defense team is using the legal argument from the Daybell case—claiming the prosecution missed key evidence deadlines—to ask the judge to remove the death penalty option, and his trial is set for July with charges for four counts of murder and one count of burglary following the November 2022 killings of University of Idaho students. - ➤ At a Friday meeting at the Capitol, the Idaho Legislature’s finance committee approved a one-time $40 million from the general fund to fight wildfires and $1.25 million in bonuses for more than 300 wildland firefighters. The funding is less than what Governor Brad Little and state officials recommended & experts warn it may not cover a severe fire season, potentially forcing the department to borrow money. - ➤ Local firefighter Dylan Browning, a Silver Valley native working with Northern Lakes Fire Protection District and volunteering in Shoshone County, took part in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Firefighter Stair Climb in Seattle on Sunday while wearing Live for Viv gear to honor a 2 year old named Vivian Bourgard who was diagnosed with leukemia in January. He climbed 69 floors and helped his team raise funds toward a $3 million goal—showing his ongoing fight against cancer and dedication to service. Coeur d'Alene Press
