- ➤ Post Falls Rotary, the school district and community partners dedicated two crosswalks to honor the memory of Mark Jones for his work with the Alternative to Suspension Program plus the club's founders during its 30th anniversary. - ➤ Post Falls High School announced its fall 2024 honor roll, listing students from ninth to twelfth grades in categories such as honor roll (GPAs from 3.0 to 3.49), high honor roll (GPAs from 3.5 to 3.99) and highest honors (GPAs 4.0 and above). Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Crews in Kootenai County are racing to replace a damaged river levy on Fourth of July Creek because about 600 acres of upstream fields may flood when river levels rise in about a week–a project receiving state disaster funds and technical help from the Army Corps is set to last 50 years. KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Idaho voters will decide on a new property tax levy on May 20 that would help fund more paid firefighters and repair equipment in the Sagle and Westside fire districts. Fire Chief Jeff Armstrong said the levy would raise taxes by $34 per $100,000 in Sagle and by $71 per $100,000 in Westside—bringing both to a total of $122 per $100,000 and ending the practice of one firefighter on an engine. - ➤ The Idaho Senate Health and Welfare Committee advanced House Bill 109 on March 18th at 4:30 p.m.—a proposal to ban SNAP funds from buying candy and soda—and the bill now heads to a full Senate vote amid warnings that its broad definitions may force grocery stores to drop SNAP benefits. - ➤ House Bill 109, cosponsored by Rep. Jordan Redman from Coeur d’Alene, would require the health department to seek federal approval to stop including candy and soda in SNAP. The bill advanced from the Senate Health and Welfare Committee and will head to the full Senate if it avoids the governor’s veto. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ The Idaho Legislature passed a media shield law bill to protect journalists' sources following a unanimous bipartisan vote. The bill now heads to Gov Little who has five days to sign — allow it to take effect without his signature — or veto it. Coeur d'Alene Press
