  • On Feb. 28, more than $13,000 was raised at Bartender's Ball at the Coeur d'Alene Casino to support Shoshone Pet Rescue. Nearly 350 guests also donated 600 lbs of pet food as 13 bars and six restaurants showcased their best cocktails and dishes.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Starting in April, the Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene will host three piano concerts - April 11 features Carson Rhodes performing Billy Joel-inspired songs; April 16 spotlights piano masterworks by Matt Goodrich and Melody Puller at the Kroc Center; and April 18 presents New York pianist Peggy Reich playing nocturnes.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students showcased sports-themed projects last Friday, March 13 at Twin Lakes Elementary School during the Idaho Exhibition of Ideas. The event used digital design and 3D printing and honored winners in junior and senior divisions—highlighting local talent.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • North Idaho Pride Alliance is awarding two $1,500 scholarships to local high school or home-school seniors planning to attend college, university or trade school during the 2026-2027 academic year; applications are due April 1.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • After a fire damaged River Tech School of Performing Arts and Technology's facility at The River Church on E. Horsehaven Ave., Principal Dan Hegelund said the school will secure a new location to finish the year and reopen after spring break on March 30. A fundraiser is set at Triple Play Family Fun Park in Hayden on Thursday, March 26 to support recovery efforts.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Public health officials confirmed a measles case in a Kootenai County resident who visited Providence Sacred Heart Emergency Departments on Mar. 14 and 15, and they said the risk was low while urging those affected to check their vaccination status.  KXLY

  • Fresh snowfall has boosted Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass amid an up-and-down winter—Silver Mountain plans to operate until April 19 while Lookout may extend past its expected April 12 closing if weather holds.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Idaho Vandals men's basketball team lost to Houston 78 to 47 in the NCAA tournament first round on Thursday. Fans who traveled to Oklahoma City can now watch the women’s team face Oklahoma in Norman Friday evening.  KXLY
