  • Community Library Network trustees postponed a decision on joining the regional consortium Inland Northwest Libraries and updating a policy that labels propaganda promoting illegal activity as inappropriate for minors. The board will meet with legal counsel on April 10 + discuss next steps before making a final choice.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CRIME NEWS

  • Bryan Kohberger, charged with the fatal stabbings of four University of Idaho students, purchased a Ka-Bar knife with sheath from Amazon in March 2022—police linked a knife sheath with Marine Corps insignia found at the crime scene to him using DNA tests.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at 405 N. William St. in Post Falls is asking local artists of all ages to submit art for the upcoming Art Uplifts show, which is held in memory of Jimmy Magnuson. The exhibit runs from June 7 through July 19 and submissions close May 17—no fees are charged for entries.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Postal workers rallied in Spokane Valley last Thursday against plans that could privatize the Postal Service—union members representing workers in eastern Washington and North Idaho said such changes would curb mail delivery in rural areas and endanger jobs. The union added that a transportation program set to begin April 1 may further limit deliveries as Congress debates House Resolution 70 to keep the Postal Service independent.  KXLY
