ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 15, a fire damaged River Church and its attached preschool in Post Falls when a deteriorated natural gas regulator caused over-pressurization, leading firefighters to battle the flames for four hours while church leaders plan to find a new building for classes. The Spokesman-Review
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Education announced (March 18) that Alica Holthaus (former superintendent of the Mountain View and St. Maries Joint school districts) has been named deputy superintendent for the northern regions to support local education agencies in North Idaho. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Trustees of the Lakeland School Board placed Superintendent Rusty Taylor on paid leave on Monday and appointed Assistant Superintendent Jake Massey as interim, with plans to open applications for a permanent replacement soon to keep school operations steady. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Yesterday, the Senate Health and Welfare Committee voted Tuesday to send House Bill 928 for amendment – the legislation would ban DEI practices at Medicaid-funded facilities and faces pushback from health professionals and legislators who worry it may hinder patient care; lawmakers plan further revisions.
