- ➤ 3rd Avenue Marketplace announced Tuesday that executive director Leslie Orth is retiring after ten years of service and board chair Charlene Holbrook will take over as the new executive director on June 2. Holbrook brings over 30 years of leadership experience (including 22 years as communications director at Post Falls Police Department) and recently won the Volunteer of the Year Award for her service at the nonprofit. - ➤ Yesterday, Hagadone Hospitality broke ground on the Sherman Tower in downtown Coeur d’Alene as part of a major expansion of the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The project will add 139 rooms and new dining and social spaces—construction will begin immediately and is expected to finish in May 2027—creating local jobs and boosting business. - ➤ Prosecutors in Latah County stated they may call members of Bryan Kohberger’s family to testify in his trial for the first-degree murder of four students in November 2022—requesting that these relatives stay outside the courtroom until they speak and filing their witness list by April 21. - ➤ A north Idaho family reported two century-old horse saddles were stolen overnight from a locked area—one a prized big horn saddle passed down for 100 years—and the sheriff urged anyone with information to call. KHQ

- ➤ Coeur d’Alene tribal member and language expert Cheffrey Sailto spoke today at North Idaho College’s Edminster Student Union Building for American Indian Heritage Week, giving his opening message twice — in Coeur d’Alene and in English. He now teaches the Coeur d’Alene language at Lakeside High School and said that learning from tribal elder Lawrence Nicodemus — who helped create a Salish writing system — guides him as he shares his heritage with local youth. - ➤ Post Falls resident Michelle Lippert—who served 24 years on the School Board and was named Board Chair of the Year—announced her candidacy for the Community Library Network board of trustees in the May 20 election.
