An 11-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run while walking home from school at the Spokane Street and 11th Avenue intersection in Post Falls—police are looking for a woman in her 30s driving a white Suburban with Idaho plates after receiving tips, and her injuries have shortened her ski season and left her feeling unsafe walking alone.
April will bring many exciting sky events for local astronomy fans.
They will see the moon move 7 degrees away from the Pleiades on April 1 at 8 p.m.—the first quarter moon appear on April 4, the moon and Mars meet on April 5, the full Pink Moon light up the sky on April 12 at 5:22 p.m.—Mercury reach its best on April 21 at 5:15 a.m., the Lyrids meteor shower peak from April 22—23, Venus shine on April 23 and the new moon appear on April 27 at 3:58 a.m.
High school seniors in Post Falls pitched their passion for careers like firefighting, teaching, engineering and social work at a reverse job fair held on Wednesday at Real Life Ministries.
The event, now in its 19th year (a joint effort by the school district and the Chamber of Commerce), gave students real world experience in interviewing and resume-making.
Coeur d'Alene High School senior Aniston Ewing recalled her childhood memory of watching her grandfather balance his budget with a simple notebook during a class presentation — she dedicated her senior project to teaching basic money management and will study accounting and finance at Boise State University.
Starting next week, drivers on SH-41 going north to reach westbound I-90 will be detoured to 16th Avenue—where they will make a U-turn and merge onto a new temporary on-ramp.
The change will let southbound drivers merge easily and will last through fall as crews work on the improved interchange, which will be finished in 2026.
