COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Angela Henderson was named executive director of the Rathdrum Chamber of Commerce last week. Born in Portland (Ore.), she has spent 12 years in North Idaho and plans to support local businesses as she replaces Ashley Cameron.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Coeur d’Alene Press has chronicled North Idaho since 1892 through detailed archives and local coverage. The newspaper will reveal a time capsule discovered in the Kootenai County Courthouse on July 3 - a milestone set to mark the building's 100th anniversary.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tuesday night, the City Council discussed Little League field fees as league president Chris Perkins, celebrating the group's 50th anniversary, noted fee issues while Parks Director Kris Ammerman said that 2023 charges, after deductions, were about ($3,500). Councilor Nathan Ziegler added the figures compared favorably to fees in neighboring areas.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Lane closures on Greene Street have been put in place as local officials adjust traffic patterns — detour routes are in effect. Residents should follow local updates for any schedule changes.  KXLY
  • Part of East 3rd Avenue in Post Falls is closed today through April 16 for paving, blocking traffic between Ross Point Road and Pinion Park Road while access remains for northern businesses.  KXLY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kootenai Health’s Northern Idaho Crisis Center offers 24/7 mental health support, providing emergency screenings, shelter, clothing and case management for those in the region. Staff explain that law enforcement directs clients to either the center or hospital care + early intervention is encouraged before crises worsen.  KHQ
  • Kootenai Health has acquired an updated version of the Da Vinci Robot to assist in surgical procedures at its facility, and the new device will help improve precision in operations.  KHQ
