COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 3rd Avenue Marketplace's Empty Bowls event on March 27 at the Kootenai County Fire and Rescue training campus raised nearly $9,000 to help fight food insecurity for local youth — the funds will support the Children's Weekend Backpack Program that provides weekend meals for families in the Post Falls School District.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Army veteran Joseph Vosahlo was $300 short when moving from his van into a new apartment, but the Newby-ginnings Veterans Relief Fund helped him secure a home within 48 hours. The nonprofit—recently awarded a $5,000 grant from Homes for Heroes—serves local veterans with urgent financial needs.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Art and Flow Studio will host a free guided painting session on April 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Post Falls American Legion (1138 E.   • Coeur d’Alene police recommended misdemeanor charges against security personnel from Lear Asset Management—who dragged a woman out of the high school auditorium and allegedly battered others at a legislative town hall on Feb. 22—as city prosecutors review the investigation reports.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nine North Idaho College students competed in the SkillsUSA Autobody and Collision Repair competition on April 8 and 9 at the Micron Building in Nampa where Ash Lafleur won silver — Kamryn Wixom and Taryn Costa each earned bronze.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Several North Idaho cities, including Post Falls, are working to submit revised areas of impact by the end of the year—new boundaries now limited to 2 miles from city lines with a mandated five-year review. City and county officials are meeting to adjust for changes in development patterns and ensure future growth is planned properly.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The city of Post Falls received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its fiscal year 2025 budget—an honor that shows its strong work in financial management.  Coeur d'Alene Press
