WWII veteran Robert Douglas Gwin celebrated his 101st birthday Friday at Lake City Center with family and friends.

He said he has been very fortunate and once used his knack for Morse code as a high-speed radio operator in the Army Signal Corps.

At approximately 3:50 a.m. Friday, KCSO responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Hayden Lake Road when deputies found an unconscious male in a ditch near the intersection with Rhapsody Lane—preliminary evidence shows alcohol or drugs may have contributed.
