- ➤ Elton Turcotte — 72-year-old builder — has built about 10 birdhouses each year for 60 years to give bluebirds and wood ducks nesting spots in Post Falls and nearby areas. His annual work fills a local need as natural tree cavities decline. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Post Falls staff have taken over planning the parade after community ambassadors ended management last year. The staff used a $4,200 cost estimate from the previous event + are planning a downtown route, ensuring the parade will run in July and a new host will be found for future celebrations. - ➤ On April 10, the Lt. George Farragut Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored Kootenai Junior/Senior High freshman Dani Davidson for winning the Patriots of the American Revolution Essay Contest with her essay 'Hamilton’s Revolution' and awarded her a commemorative medal, certificate and $200. - ➤ Families in the Post Falls School District attended READY! for Kindergarten on Wednesday at Mullan Trail Elementary to learn play-based methods and receive $100 toy kits for early learning. The joint program by United Way and the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children prepared kids for kindergarten. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Scientists report that bee populations are declining mainly because of urban growth, rising temperatures and pesticides, not due to managed honey bees (vital for farming) outcompeting wild bees.
