  • Josh Ribble, owner of Eco-Wash LLC — a North Idaho leader in eco-friendly softwashing — announced his company will provide free exterior cleaning for American Legion veterans in Post Falls as part of the #KootenaiClean project; he began the business five years ago after working in construction and now offers safe and gentle cleaning for both commercial and residential properties.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CRIME NEWS

  • Coeur d'Alene prosecutors charged Lear Asset Management employees — Paul Trouette, Russell Runne, Christopher Berge, and Jesse Jones with battery and false imprisonment, while Michael Keller faces battery and Alex Trouette IV is charged with security agent violations for dragging a woman from a town hall in February after a police investigation.  KXLY
  • City prosecutors charged six men—including four private security guards from Lear Asset Management and Post Falls resident Michael Keller—with battery and false imprisonment after a February 22 town hall at Coeur d’Alene High School in which security dragged a woman out of the auditorium.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A local expert explained the differences between heirloom, hybrid, and GMO tomatoes after a social media comment questioned the perfect look of her Altai heirloom tomatoes grown in cooler conditions. She noted that hybrids come from planned cross-pollination and GMOs are made in a lab — while heirlooms have been passed down over many generations.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Prescribed fire operations begin today in Idaho Panhandle National Forests to reduce overgrown vegetation and protect communities, infrastructure, and natural resources from wildfires—burns will continue through the spring as weather permits, and some areas may close to the public for safety.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • North Idaho College will host its ninth annual Arbor Day event at noon on Saturday, April 26 in the Molstead Library parking lot at its Coeur d’Alene campus. The free event will give attendees a Water Birch or Western White Pine seedling along with prizes, raffles and NIC stickers (in partnership with New Leaf Nursery, Northlands Nursery, Sun Valley Tree Service and the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department).  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Police Chief Tomi McLean announced her retirement after 33 years in law enforcement—she began her career as a reserve officer in Post Falls and served in Rathdrum since 1994 while becoming the first female chief in 2016.
