  • John and Tish Deus from Coeur d’Alene donated $500 to help buy new gear for Norton—the KCSO police dog—after meeting him at the North Idaho Fair, and they plan to make the donation an annual gift.   • Dale Wilson from Post Falls was inducted into the OCS Hall of Fame for Lifelong Service today for his military service and veteran advocacy. He joined the Army in 1969, fought overseas, and overcame injuries on crutches—his career also includes teaching and earning advanced degrees that highlight his commitment to sharing veterans' stories.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Lookout Pass Free Ski School has taught over 38,000 kids since 1942 in a nine-week program running from January to March. Tammy Nusz and her husband Chris run the nonprofit school, which serves about 250 students each year — relying on donations and volunteers.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Deputies are investigating a theft of a large amount of lumber from a housing development construction site on North Bunchberry Street in Hayden that occurred between April 11 and 15—suspects likely used a truck with a trailer—and ask anyone with information to come forward.  KXLY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The National Day of Prayer will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on May 1st at McEuen Park Veterans Memorial Plaza. The Kootenai County Ministerial Association organizes the event, which will include music, scripture readings plus prayers from local pastors for branches of government, elected leaders, law enforcement and the salvation of souls.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department said it will host Operation Clean Sweep on April 23 and April 24 to clear trash along US-95 from Granite Hill to I-90 with volunteers 16 and older. Volunteers must register and report between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the Athol shed — 6303 E. Parks Road — to pick up equipment and attend a safety talk.  KXLY
