  • The Coeur d'Alene Community Action Partnership is seeking food, financial donations and volunteers for its food bank and community garden project as summer slows giving—donations are accepted Monday through Thursday at 4144 W Industrial Loop.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The First Interstate BancSystem Foundation celebrated a philanthropic milestone by marking $100 million in community donations with an open house held at the First Interstate Bank in Coeur d’Alene yesterday.   • Fire stations and buildings will glow red from April 26 through May 3 in Kootenai County for the Light the Night campaign — a tribute to fallen firefighters — while Coeur d’Alene Lowes hosts a red light bulb giveaway on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  KHQ

  • Floodwaters have overwhelmed a school cafeteria in Post Falls today (officials are assessing the damage) and have temporarily halted classes.  KXLY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • NIC student Casandra Rencken placed third in the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge for her local business Simply Maid Clean, earning a $1,125 prize on April 3 in Boise, and the award came from a contest for student ventures developed in the Business Management Program (with NIC X-Labs).  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Volunteers prepared seedlings on Tuesday for the 41st Arbor Day giveaway that will provide trees for 2,000 fourth graders in Kootenai County. The event, now in its 41st year, features a mix of trees like eastern redbud & katsura and is backed by local timber and tree care industries.  Coeur d'Alene Press
