  • Drivers in Post Falls face delays as crews work on the Spokane Street Renovation Project, replacing asphalt and repairing drains, manholes, and ramps along the street from 1st Avenue to Seltice Way. Local business managers report slower customer traffic and note an eastbound on ramp & westbound off ramp closure running from Apr 23 until today, with work set to finish by May 9.  KXLY

  • Bald eagles, owls, and falcons injured by lead poisoning, car collisions, and illegal shootings are cared for by Birds of Prey Northwest—a local nonprofit that helps them heal for a return to the wild.   • Trustee Allison Anderton resigned from the Coeur d'Alene School District board after being arrested on Easter Sunday in Post Falls for DUI and possession of paraphernalia—the board will declare the vacancy and begin talks on a replacement at its meeting on May 12.  KXLY
  • Kootenai County's driver's licensing and Concealed Weapons Permit offices in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls will be closed on May 15 and June 11 for staff training and system upgrades—community members should plan ahead by scheduling appointments with the QLess App.  Coeur d'Alene Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local healthcare leaders said a lack of affordable housing and childcare is making it hard for hospitals to keep essential workers after a meeting held yesterday at the Coeur d’Alene Economic Development event.
