  • Marketplace@Miles is expected to open later this month or in early May in Hayden at the corner of Miles Avenue and Government Way — it will offer up to 50 booths of handcrafted goods and host live events and workshops.  The Spokesman-Review

CRIME NEWS

  • Rachel Berger, a Hayden bookkeeper, was convicted of tax evasion, perjury and grand theft for embezzling over $162,000 from her employer—she received a suspended 15-year prison sentence with 10 years of supervised release, 120 hours in jail, 300 hours of community service and must pay over $70,500 in restitution.  KXLY
  • Allie Anderton, a former school board trustee, was arrested by Post Falls police Sunday morning at 1 a.m. near Beck Road and Expo Parkway for DUI and drug paraphernalia after officers noted signs of intoxication and drug use—she resigned from the board on Wednesday.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The North Idaho College Music Department will present the free Swing into Spring jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Schuler Performing Arts Center on campus at 495 College Drive + the event features the Coeur d'Alene High School Viking Jazz Band directed by Jim Phillips under the direction of David Blink.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Local author Denise Clanin will sign copies of her debut novel Among the Stars from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at It’s a Love Story Books and Café at 8927 Hess St., Ste.   • Vitalant is hosting blood drives in Kootenai County next week. The drive will run Tuesday, April 29 from 3 to 7:15 p.m. at Hayden Lake Stake at 2293 W.
