- ➤ Construction for Quarry Sports Complex begins in May after city council approved LaRiviere, Inc.'s bid; phase 1 will add two multi-use fields, facility buildings, and parking with completion set for December. A $1.25 million grant + park impact fees will cover the project costs. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ The North Idaho Centennial Trail will be closed for construction from May 4 to May 13 — the section from the state line to Pleasant View Road in Post Falls will have two miles of deteriorated asphalt replaced with joint funding from the county, local cities and a state grant. - ➤ Bonner Homeless Transitions invites local leaders and supporters to its annual Little Black Dress: Cocktails + Conversation fundraiser on Thursday, Apr. 30 at The Idaho Club starting at 5 p.m. The event will feature cocktails, heavy appetizers and unveil two major announcements to expand services for families addressing homelessness. - ➤ High school students from 14 regional schools attended Hard Hats, Hammers, Healthcare and Hot Dogs at KTEC on Thursday — where they learned trade skills like welding and heavy machinery operation. Coeur d'Alene Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Part of East 16th Avenue will be closed on Monday, April 27 for pothole patching in Post Falls when the road (North Spokane to North Frederick) is closed, and the northbound lane of North Spokane Street (between East 15th and Englich Funeral home) is also shut. KXLY
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 19, Caleb Wilson caught a record 26.75-inch burbot from the Kootenai River and promptly released it back into the water to support ongoing conservation efforts. The catch now stands as the state catch-and-release record. Coeur d'Alene Press
