Bryan Elementary third grader Jennifer McDonald advanced to the Invention Convention U.S. Nationals in Dearborn, Mich. after winning the Jules Verne Best of Category at Invent Idaho held on April 25 and 26 in Moscow—she invented an underwater farm to help protect crops from natural disasters.

Kootenai County deputies now use new anti-choking devices to better handle emergencies.
The sheriff’s office said the devices will help save lives during choking incidents — a key update in emergency response.
Kootenai County commissioners answered community questions about growth and government efficiency during a Wednesday night town hall at the Administration Building (with over 40 attendees), discussing improved permit processing, using technology to fill staffing gaps, and plans for revisiting an open space bond.
State leaders including Gov. Spencer Cox, Gov. Brad Little, and Gov. Mark Gordon signed memorandums of understanding on April 30 to coordinate nuclear energy development and address regulatory and environmental challenges.
Cox said the pact will boost regional innovation and guide federal support—aiming to make energy more reliable and affordable.
The Idaho Attorney General warned local residents about door-to-door workers who falsely claim they offer a free government inspection and audit program for energy efficiency—official sources confirmed no such programs exist and urged residents to report any suspicious activity.
