- ➤ Idaho State Police said today that on Highway 41 near Clagstone Road a 100-year-old minivan driver tried a left turn and hit a speeding motorcycle ridden by a 59-year-old man (who was not wearing a helmet), causing the motorcyclist to die at the scene and the driver to be taken to a local hospital. - ➤ Gas prices in Idaho are lower this week because falling crude oil prices are keeping pump prices down — AAA’s public affairs director, Matthew Conde, said the state’s average for regular gas was $3.29 on Monday and that local prices such as $3.25 in the Coeur d'Alene area have decreased over the past month. He warned fuel demand will surge after today as Memorial Day weekend approaches, which may lead to higher prices soon. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Governor Brad Little held a press conference Monday at StanCraft Jet Center in Hayden where he outlined plans to hire a new prosecutor in Coeur d’Alene to combat drug trafficking & to form a new statewide drug interdiction team to stop fentanyl from entering Idaho. He said violent crime has decreased and new pay rates for public defenders are helping ease strain on the legal system. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Starting May 10, residents living outside city limits must obtain a burn permit for most outdoor burning to reduce wildfire risks; recreational campfires remain exempt. Permits are free, valid for 10 days, and available via a self-service website—carry the permit while burning— while local jurisdictions may impose extra rules. KHQ
