  • On April 18, the 14th annual Cowboy Ball raised over $100,000 for the North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation. The money helped pay for repairs at the fairgrounds and support youth scholarships—funds that bolster local improvements—and the foundation will announce a new event to run with the Josh Turner concert later at the fair.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Specialized Needs Recreation is hosting an open house Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at 3700 Government Way to celebrate 40 years of services for people with disabilities in North Idaho — where clients garden, host a Kiwanis AKTION Club, and serve at food banks.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Bryan Kohberger’s immediate family is allowed to attend his capital murder trial for four counts following Judge Steven Hippler's ruling on Wednesday that their presence will not affect a fair trial—prosecutors may call them to testify if needed.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • A Spirit Lake man, 23-year-old Gage M. Benefield, is charged with vehicular manslaughter after he failed to yield on State Highway 54 near milepost 1 on May 2 and fatally struck a 61-year-old motorcyclist—he had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Post Falls City Council approved an $11.7M project to design and build a new public works center that will combine the streets, water, and utilities teams—later to include the fleet division—under one roof for efficient operations. The project will be developed on 9.5 acres on Hargrave Avenue east of Pleasant View Road, and construction is expected to take about a year and a half.  Coeur d'Alene Press
