Local organizers have begun fundraising for a new indoor baseball facility in Post Falls that will offer year-round sports and events; details on project plans and community involvement are expected soon.
According to Best Friends Animal Society, Idaho and Montana achieved no-kill status after a full year saving every healthy and treatable shelter pet, with a 93% save rate in January and a 95% rate in February (the states also celebrate shelter animal days).
Hospice of North Idaho accepts registrations for Camp Kaniksu, a free grief support camp for children and teens (ages 6 to 16).
Running June 26-28 with a Camper and Parent Evening on June 26 at the hospice, the camp features grief support groups, swimming, archery, ziplining, and a luminary ceremony.

The Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra will close its season with 'America’s 250th,' a concert honoring American music at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kroc Center’s Midge and Pepper Smock Family Theater — featuring works by Bernstein, Gershwin, and Copland.
A free pre-concert lecture starts at 2 p.m. with Danh Pham.
A local trumpeter celebrated 55 years with the symphony in Post Falls today.
His milestone was marked by a tribute event that honored his long-standing impact on the region's arts + culture scene.
Rusty Jackson will celebrate Merle Haggard’s legacy by hosting Hagfest Northwest at Lake City Center on May 16 with a full band and 30 tribute songs.
Tickets cost $39 for general admission, with seniors ($29) and youth ($19) discounted.
Post Falls' Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center is hosting a Children's Art Show as part of the Heritage Food Festival.
Youth artists must submit work by 6 p.m. May 21, with the outdoor exhibition shown noon & 6 p.m. May 30 while art remains available for pickup until June 11.
