- ➤ A military ceremony at Mica Peak Cemetery honored three veterans who served in wars spanning more than 130 years during a rain-soaked event Wednesday. About 50 community members attended the service, and family representatives received ceremonial items in tribute to the new grave markers. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Multiple Memorial Day events will take place on May 25 in Kootenai County, with a 9 a.m. ceremony at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Coeur d'Alene plus events in Hayden, Coeur d’Alene, Evergreen and Rathdrum, and a moment of silence set for 3 p.m. if you cannot attend. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ The musical Once Upon a Mattress will open May 22 at Lake City Playhouse, featuring Amanda Guinn as Princess Fred and local talents such as Chance Turnbull and Brady Campbell. Directed by Marie Hunt, the production will bring a charming fairy tale comedy to the community. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ The Post Falls Museum opened today with a veteran exhibit as part of America250—featuring donated mementos that reflect local history. Visitors can join the exhibit at the Chapin Building from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, and a grand opening celebration with light refreshments is planned for May 16. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ The selection committee for the Major Don Gilger Scholarship announced the 2026 winners of 17 awards today. Three local graduating seniors will each receive a $5,000 scholarship while 14 will receive $2,500 to help them pursue Christian college or technical programs. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ A new report said most reservoirs will not keep usual storage levels this summer because low snowpack has put 75% of the state in moderate to exceptional drought. The report warned water supplies, hydropower generation and recreation may be strained later this season. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Data shows almost 70% of rural hospitals in our area reported losses in late 2025, up from 15% two years ago, and hospital leaders plan to use a $930 million, five-year federal grant to buy much-needed equipment + boost staffing. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Former patients of Spokane Allergy & Asthma Clinic report billing issues after its unexpected closure, as many say the clinic's website now only connects them to voicemail even after posting a billing contact.
