- ➤ On Friday, a memorial bench and stone were dedicated on 5th Avenue to honor Officer Nick McDaniel, who died on duty in 2023; Acting Police Chief Mark Brantl said the site — a quiet place for reflection — will help the community remember his service. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Veterans received free services at the North Idaho Stand Down held Saturday at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. Around 800 active and retired servicemen got haircuts, groceries, housing support, and counseling (with over 5,000 lbs of donated supplies provided by volunteers) to foster community connection. - ➤ Alta Science & Engineering released a heavy metal risk evaluation for recreation sites near Lake Coeur d’Alene and the Spokane River; published findings show 21 of 32 sites are below safety levels and the public is advised to practice safe beach guidelines.
