- ➤ Mikie Cutler dug up two time capsules on the Timberlake High School lawn Monday that were buried 25 years ago by Athol Elementary and Timberlake High students to mark the century change. Many items were damaged by soil and moisture—photos, sports gear and a U.S. Postal Service banner survived—while former teachers and students reunited at the event. Coeur d'Alene Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Voters in Kootenai County will decide today on two funding measures that local schools and the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department say are essential for safety— the fire department is proposing a 10-year, $16 million bond to manage a 35% increase in calls while Post Falls schools seek a new levy to replace a nearly $12 million one for extracurriculars and safety. Early ballots are already being processed at polling places. KXLY
