- ➤ 16-year-old Addy Jasmin and her friends stopped near U.S. 95 15 miles south of Coeur d’Alene on a warm Sunday afternoon and found four frightened kittens abandoned in a crate with a small amount of food and water. They drove the crate to Coeur d’Alene, where by May 21 the kittens were adopted — officials stressed that abandoning animals is illegal — after the rescue. Coeur d'Alene Press
