Rite Aid in Coeur d’Alene and Hayden will close next month as part of the chain’s bankruptcy proceedings, according to federal bankruptcy court documents filed Friday.
The Hayden store at Prairie Shopping Center will close its pharmacy on June 11 and its front end around June 18 — prescriptions will automatically move to Safeway Pharmacy while the Coeur d’Alene store’s closing date remains unannounced.
Idaho State Police said a hit-and-run occurred on I-90 near Fourth of July Pass on May 16 at about 12:30 p.m.—a gray F-150 pickup without a visible license plate struck a semi-truck while carrying yellow storage bins and flashing lights, and police are asking for public help in identifying the truck.
The Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland Joint school districts have announced the 2025 USDA Summer Food Service Program, offering free meals and snacks to kids 18 and under during summer — sites will also provide nutrition education and activity programs and remain open until mid-August.
Idaho has halted executions until at least July 2026 as it reinstates the firing squad as the primary method, and corrections officials are retrofitting a section of the state prison with construction that began on May 23 (renovations and team training are expected to take six to nine months).
