On Friday, the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club awarded $46,000 in community grants to 20 local groups to support projects in education, youth enrichment and housing at the Hagadone Event Center.
Grants co-chair Lindsey Morgan said the awards reflect a broad range of service needs in our community.
Team Hoyt CDA, a nonprofit for racing wheelchairs, expanded from five to 45 members and showcased its seven racing chairs at a Memorial Day 5K run/walk from the LDS chapel on Hanley to the new temple site.
The group seeks sponsors to cover race fees for future events.

Lightning struck several homes in Post Falls today — local repair crews are assessing the damage and residents are advised to take precautions amid the ongoing storm.
🌲 Environment
Storms knocked out power for nearly 20,000 customers across North Idaho and the Spokane area — utility crews are working to assess outages and restore service.
Northern Lights Electric said more than 5,000 customers stayed without power Friday after a storm on Thursday damaged lines from Sandpoint to Bonners Ferry — crews from local companies are working to clear trees and repair outages, with service expected to be restored within one to two days.
