- ➤ Make-A-Wish Idaho will host the second annual Walk for Wishes North Idaho fundraiser on Saturday, June 7 at Riverstone Park. Participants must check in at 9:30 a.m. (the walk starts at 10:30 a.m.) and are encouraged to raise at least $100 to earn an official event T-shirt as funds go toward granting wishes for 13 local children with critical illnesses. - ➤ Post Falls staff announced that City Prosecutor Eileen McGovern has been appointed to serve as a magistrate judge, replacing Judge John Cafferty who was named district judge for Idaho’s First Judicial District. McGovern’s final day as prosecutor is Friday (she will begin her new role Monday). Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Kootenai County commissioners began reviewing the FY2026 budget that calls for about $145 million in expenditures. They will meet six times through July 23, with a preliminary balanced budget on July 31, a public hearing on Aug. 27, and final adoption on Aug. 29 (a 3% property tax increase could bring a surplus of $589,000 while no increase would require $1.2 million in cuts). - ➤ A judge dismissed the defamation suit brought by Pennie Collinson against Sheriff Bob Norris because she failed to post a required $500 bond—Collinson may refile the case once the bond is provided. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Idaho health officials said a new law will shift Medicaid oversight to private companies by 2029 after years of preparation— the department plans to apply for federal approval for Medicaid work requirements for able-bodied adults by July 2026. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Camp host Cheryl Dimmick from Riverside State Park advised families to test smoke alarms, check fire extinguishers, and inspect gas and propane systems to prevent accidents while camping and boating this summer.
