Avista Utilities announced that starting Friday, river recreation will be allowed between the Spokane Street Bridge and the boater safety cables near the dam—while Q’emiln Park’s boat launch and swim beach open and summer dam operations continue through Labor Day if weather permits.
🎓 Education
The North Idaho Women and Their Money Conference drew 537 women yesterday at North Idaho College, featuring 16 breakout sessions and keynote remarks on financial literacy while awarding $1,000 scholarships to 40 participants.
NIC student Zoe Hunt earned a bronze medal at the national SkillsUSA competition held in Atlanta from June 1–5 after her team won gold at the state level.
Two other students placed 10th and 13th in their events, helping the college stand out among more than 6,800 competitors.
The Idaho Department of Education is gathering feedback on its 32 year funding formula, which allocates $3b by classroom units and may change to better account for virtual learning and special education costs.
A Coeur d'Alene listening session is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.
A new community field house at Timberlake High School broke ground yesterday in Spirit Lake with donations from local partners such as Silverwood Theme Park and Idaho Central Credit Union, and the 90 by 72-foot facility will host indoor sports and gatherings with Phase One set to finish by November.
