  • At a dedication ceremony on Thursday, Robert Jacobs and community leaders unveiled a new metal clocktower and artwork at the roundabout on Fourth Avenue and Idaho Road, linking local history with future plans as Millworx transforms into a walkable city center—designed by artist Chris Anderson and Cooper Fabrication using repurposed mill equipment and historic trusses.   • The community gathered Friday night at the Make It Pink Gala in Coeur d'Alene to honor the legacy of three University of Idaho students killed in Moscow in 2022—raising funds for the Maddie, Kaylee and Xana Scholarship Fund that supports local community service efforts.  KXLY

  • Idaho State Police said a 17-year-old from Plummer died when her white Ford Fusion (2013) lost control and hit a tree on Highway 95 near milepost 394 at 10:24 a.m.; investigators said she did not wear her seatbelt and ruled out alcohol.  KHQ

  • Kassi Allen, a lifetime local and owner of Anchored Coffee Company, started her business in March 2018 and recently opened a fifth location in midtown Coeur d’Alene with walk-up service and a rental conference room.   • Lake Pend Oreille School District is offering free summer meals for kids to ensure they get healthy food while school is out + the program will run during the summer to support families in need.  KXLY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Avista Utilities said that river recreation between the Spokane Street bridge and boater safety cables upstream of the dam will open Monday, June 16, as river flows rise to allow summer operations at the hydroelectric facility. The Post Falls boat launch and swim beach at Q’emiln Park will also open Monday—summer operations are expected to continue through Labor Day if weather permits.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Upriver Drive is closed today for construction work, and drivers in Post Falls are told to use alternate routes — crews expect to complete the project soon.  KXLY
  • Attorney General Raúl Labrador met with Post Falls Police Department leaders this week to boost ties with the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force — he also attended police conference sessions and mental health training for ICAC investigators — to support child protection efforts.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Idaho Transportation Board accepted staff recommendations to use TECM funds to improve the I-90 and US-95 interchange in Coeur d'Alene and add capacity for rising traffic by 2045.
