  • United Way of North Idaho announced on July 8 that it received a $12,000 grant from the Idaho Future Fund via the Idaho Community Foundation to support the A.L.I.C.E. Childcare Scholarship Program which has helped families below the income threshold access safe child care.   • Dealerships are offering a $20,000 reward for information on Jonathan Shane Roberts, who is accused of stealing a new RV and a Ford F-350 using a fake cashier's check and a $5,000 deposit from a closed account — authorities believe he may be near Liberty Lake.  KHQ

  • Pam Pereira of Kinder Magic in Coeur d’Alene launched the Fly program in her preschool and kindergarten classes after a tough divorce, using her personal recovery to teach children to care for themselves (First Love Yourself). She published a book called Fly: For ages 0-100 that tells of a fairy named Magic whose heart finds joy when she learns self-love (a message Pereira believes can change life paths).  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Evacuations remained in place near Naples Sunday as crews battled the Clover Fire burning on 5 to 10 acres amid high winds while residents sheltered at the Boundary County Fairgrounds; the American Red Cross operated a shelter that did not accept pets and powerlines were de-energized for safety.  KXLY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho ended its fiscal year with a balanced budget and a $345 million positive cash balance—Gov. Brad Little said lower-than-expected revenues were offset by a $400 million tax cut and a $50 million refundable tax credit for education expenses.
