  • The Roth family has cherished their Twin Lakes waterfront property for nearly 125 years since Gustave Roth first applied for the homestead in 1902. After Daniel Roth passed in May, the property will pass to the next generation as more than 200 people gathered on July 12 to honor its legacy.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Jan Whitcomb, a retired teacher and long-time community champion who fought cancer and severe infections, is now in a local skilled nursing center for rehab as of today.   • In Post Falls, the old Idaho Veneer has transformed into Millworx, a mixed-use development that now hosts businesses like Kindred and Co., Ellie Mental Health, and Shift Fitness.   • The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing 17-year-old boy who left on foot around 7 a.m. July 22 near North Hillview Drive and Hayden Avenue in Hayden — authorities say he may be headed to Rexburg to visit friends and possibly begin work.  KXLY

  • Local transit officials announced a new reduced bus fare program — the change aims to lower commuting costs for Post Falls residents. Officials said the program will be available soon to help riders save money.  KXLY
  • Ninety-six percent of registered Idaho voters said public lands should remain public following a federal proposal to sell millions of acres, according to a poll by Conservation Voters for Idaho. The poll showed 87% opposed a bill to sell over 3 million acres—and lawmakers from Idaho already voiced their opposition—in a debate that will continue to shape future policy.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office will lose its license plate reader technology after commissioners decided not to renew the $24,000 contract—this tool, used for seven months to track criminals and enhance deputies' safety, will be available only until the end of 2025.  KXLY
