ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Four people died on North Idaho highways in the past eight days from separate crashes, including a motorcycle collision near St. Maries and a rollover on US 95 (Idaho State Police are investigating all incidents).  The Spokesman-Review
  • A single-engine aircraft carrying three people crashed just outside Coeur d’Alene Airport on Sunday just after 10 a.m.—all passengers exited safely before the plane caught fire and the cause is under investigation.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Local bystanders restrained a suspected stabber & police arrived shortly after to secure the scene.  KXLY
  • A man accused of firing more than 40 rounds along I-90 last December was sentenced to three years of probation in Coeur d’Alene for discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle (23) and must complete 100 hours of community service (as part of his fair resolution).  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Waymaker Arts, a faith-based theater group, debuts its first production 'Pride vs. Prejudice' at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church with shows scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m.—the musical blends Christian ministry with live sword fighting, comedy and musical numbers to appeal to local audiences.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Gregory C. Carr Foundation is funding an all-expenses-paid, month-long educational trip to Mozambique’s Gorongosa National Park next summer for one full-time NIC student who is 18 or older by May 2026. Tony Stewart will coordinate the project — online applications must be submitted by Oct. 17 and selected finalists will be interviewed with runner-ups receiving a $500 award.  Coeur d'Alene Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Vitalant will host the Battle of the Badges blood drive on Aug. 7 to help local hospitals by inviting first responders and community members to donate blood at the Kootenai Fire Axe Room (from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 5271 E Seltice Way).
