- ➤ On Wednesday at Falls Landing, the wind made the jingling of suncatchers sound like music at River City Market and Music as vendor Diana Wolf-Tipton and local shoppers viewed gems despite only about 250 people attending because of air quality concerns. - ➤ Walter and Linda Anderson lost their longtime home on Sunset Road in Careywood on Wednesday when the fast-growing Sunset Fire destroyed everything except a camper, tractor, and some clothes — relatives have rallied support with a GoFundMe that raised $3,185 so far. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Evacuees in Athol fled their homes as the Sunset Fire expanded Friday, with residents like Katie Greenough forced to leave her kittens behind and the Anderson family losing their dream home—fire crews continue to battle the blaze while the Idaho Department of Lands urges residents to follow safety instructions. - ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Historical Society will install updated highway markers and QR codes in North Idaho’s District 1 by the end of the year—without affecting traffic—and update the remaining markers in phases through 2027.
