The Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber is hosting the Leadership Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept.

19 at the Highlands Golf Course where 36 teams of four will compete while raising funds for Chamber programs and a local nonprofit. The event, created by five program graduates as part of a 40th anniversary celebration, will offer contests, sponsorship opportunities — and networking for local business leaders.

Bill Buley was appointed managing editor of the Coeur d’Alene Press and brings over 15 years of local experience, including service as assistant managing editor and leading roles in other communities—he will rebuild the editorial board and mentor emerging reporters to strengthen the newspaper's local voice.

Today the Antique and Classic Boat Festival at The Boardwalk Marina features the Chris-Craft boat collection — hosted by the Inland Empire Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society in partnership with Coeur Customs and Hagadone Marine Group — as a free event celebrating wooden boats.

Rainy, cool weather on Saturday slowed the growth of the Sunset Fire in southern Bonner County and the Lightning Creek Fire near Lake Pend Oreille 9 miles north of Clark Fork—fire crews built fire lines and used aerial resources to protect structures.
