  • On Saturday, families will explore Farragut State Park with free access to the Museum at the Brig—where they learn about Idaho’s wartime history—and enjoy guided hikes, fishing lessons, and cultural activities with the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 13350 East Highway 54 in Athol as part of the State Parks Foster Family Passport Program.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A tractor accident claimed the life of a 16-year-old in Post Falls and officials are investigating the incident.  KXLY

CRIME NEWS

  • An investigation continues into the bathroom fire at Chase Fields Sports Complex that burned on March 31 and left the structure a total loss—officials have several suspects and plan to rebuild next spring using $200,000 from rollover funds—and a temporary mobile stall is on site until the restrooms are replaced.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Several ITD construction projects in north Idaho are delayed by a heavy equipment operators strike that began on Aug. 12 due to rejected contract offers in eastern Washington—ITD crews are coordinating with contractors and local maintenance teams to keep traffic moving safely as work on projects like the I-90 interchange, I-90 widening, and Highway 54 reconstruction faces schedule shifts. Some milestones may be rescheduled into 2026 as the strike continues and plans adjust to current traffic needs.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Residents of Post Falls will attend an open house on the transportation master plan on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St—city officials say the event will gather essential feedback to guide future transportation projects.  Coeur d'Alene Press
