Today, students at CVSD began classes as teachers welcomed them back to in-person learning—administrators are monitoring the transition to ensure a smooth start to the academic term.

The Idaho Educator Externship Program gives certified teachers a chance to gain hands-on STEM experience — Lakeland Joint School District 272 fifth-grade teacher Lisa Mashburn earned $5,000 and professional development credits while working with the Northwest Council for Computer Education to bridge classroom ideas with real-world work.

Yesterday, Post Falls resident Benny Ramirez went fishing at Independence Point under cloudy skies as Lake Coeur d'Alene sat 7 inches below its normal summer level.

The lake is expected to drop 9 inches by Labor Day—Avista said the discharge level will remain unchanged until after the holiday so boaters can keep enjoying lake activities.

City officials announced that Post Falls offices will close on Labor Day — giving employees a holiday break — and services will restart the next day.
