🏘️ Community
Members of the church broke ground for their first North Idaho temple at 10 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Coeur Terre and Hanley Avenue — the temple is expected to be finished in two to three years and will serve nearly 15,000 members who previously traveled to Spokane.
Community members took part in a 5 kilometer Color Fun Run held Saturday at North Idaho College on the Coeur d’Alene campus, where participants jogged, walked, or ran while being showered with colorful powder.
🎓 Education
At the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, Matt Hall from HMH Engineering presented a $20,000 check to kick-start a new 4-H STEM program that will convert a bus into a mobile classroom — it is expected to be ready within a month for after-school STEM classes across the community.
🏛️ Government
Law enforcement warns local pilots not to fly drones near the Dudley Fire area near Wallace — a measure meant to keep helicopters and air tankers safe — as the lightning-caused wildfire has burned 557 acres, closed Beaver Creek Road, and may prompt evacuations in Blackcloud.
🏥 Health
At North Idaho College, dental hygiene students provided free dental care to children up to 15 on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. to noon, funded by an NIC Foundation grant through a partnership with the Center for New Directions to support underserved families.
