North Idaho therapy dog Rocket, a Brittany Spaniel who assists the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Chaplain, earned his second nomination for the First Responder Paws Award by FHE Health—public voting opens today and ends Sept 12 with finalists announced Sept 15 and the winner revealed Sept 18.

Idaho hospitals received a 4% Medicaid reimbursement cut on September 1, which put essential services like labor and delivery and behavioral health at risk—Toni Lawson of the Idaho Hospital Association said many facilities operated on a very thin margin and may soon need to use reserve funds. This situation may force hospitals to reevaluate costly service lines in order to maintain financial stability.
