- ➤ Silver Mountain will celebrate Local’s Day on Sunday, Sept 14 by offering Silver Valley residents a free gondola ride along with hiking trails, a restaurant, a bounce house and huckleberry bushes. Residents must show proof of residence at the ticket window—using a driver’s license or mail—to receive a free ticket, and the gondola will run from 9:30 a.m. until its last ride at 4 p.m. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ The Coeur d'Alene School District voted Monday night to end its driver's education program to cut costs so that families must now choose between a $75 parent-led option and more expensive private lessons under state law — the decision affects up to 200 students and may be reversed if safety concerns arise.
