- ➤ North Idaho College placed an instructor on leave after a social media post criticized Charlie Kirk’s gun control views following his death. The college said its investigation remains in an executive session—support services have been offered for those affected. KHQ
- ➤ North Idaho College said today it is investigating allegations against an instructor over a social media post made after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk died—officials offered condolences to Kirk’s family and mentioned support services for those affected. KHQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nearly 80% of the Northwest is in a drought this summer, and North Idaho has seen less snow and rain than usual. Hydrologist Peter Youngblood said the low snowpack, reduced rainfall and warmer temperatures are causing weakened stream flows — risks that continue to affect the region. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Mahogany Boater Education Association Inc. donated $40K to help the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office purchase advanced SONAR equipment costing about $85K — the new system will allow emergency responders to see the bottom of Lake Coeur d’Alene and nearby waterways for improved search and recovery operations.
