ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Fish and Game will hold a free bear safety training event on Sept 27 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. Residents will learn hands-on bear spray techniques, use a remote-controlled charging grizzly bear, and receive free canisters while supplies last + enjoy food, prize drawings, and apple cider demonstrations. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office upgraded its marine unit with a new sonar system—funded by a $40,000 donation from the Mahogany Boaters Education Association along with $22,000 each from boater registration fees and taxpayers—to provide clearer images and faster underwater searches. The system was deployed to assist in a search on Flathead Lake in Montana for a missing victim. KHQ
