Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 24th of September.
Good morning, Post Falls.
🏘️ Community
Katie Sayler (79) ended a 40-year tenure on the Coeur d’Alene Public Library board on Wednesday.
She helped build key library programs and guide the foundation’s creation while welcoming new voices to serve the community.
🎭 Culture
Coeur Dance Arts, a new dance studio in Post Falls, is featured in 'Take a Leap,' a film with local dancers that screens today at 6:30 p.m. (Riverstone Regal Cinema) during the North Idaho Film Festival.
🌲 Environment
Officials confirmed a grizzly bear sighting after a hunter reported an animal in Skookum Saddle Monday; trail photos showed a healthy adult.
Wildlife urges hunters to be cautious and invites them to the free North Idaho Bear Fair (noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Boundary County Fairgrounds in Bonners Ferry).
🏛️ Government
The new Pleasant View Road Interchange on Highway 53 will fully open for traffic Friday after crews painted final lane markings (the road closed Thursday at 8 p.m.).
Drivers face detours on McGuire Road and Prairie Avenue, and from Monday further changes will occur.
🏥 Health
Due to nearly $1,600 monthly premium increases, local family medicine practice owners Joshua and Ashley Durham now pay for medical care out of pocket using a $50,000 health savings account (they worry that even a small accident could lead to a huge bill).
