- ➤ Community Cakes has launched a new chapter in North Idaho to deliver free birthday cakes made by volunteer bakers to local assisted-living facilities, shelters, and hospice programs. Organizer Kacey Keating said the nonprofit welcomes bakers and community partners to join the effort—anyone who loves to bake can sign up. Coeur d'Alene Press
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Post Falls author and screenwriter Anita Waggoner has launched her first film project, Freedom, a modern faith-based Western that explores redemption, resilience and the cowboy spirit. She recently filmed a proof-of-concept reel in Oklahoma City with a local cast and crew—if accepted by Angel Studios the project will move into full feature production. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Tickets are on sale for the traditional Norwegian luncheon hosted by Sons of Norway Harald Haarfager Lodge in Coeur d’Alene, scheduled for Nov.15 at Trinity Lutheran Church. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ High school students from across Kootenai County competed on Tuesday at North Idaho College’s Coeur d’Alene campus in the 42nd annual Math Contest, where individual winners and team champions were named. Coleton Lundwell from Post Falls High School won Division 1 seniors plus Allistair Smith from Coeur d’Alene High School took first in Division 1 juniors while teams from Coeur d’Alene and North Idaho STEM Charter Academy won their team competitions and every participant received a $1,000 scholarship. - ➤ Music teachers and students celebrated 25 years of the North Idaho Music Teachers Association on Oct.18 at the Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene— local performers and charter members shared reflections and honored the legacy of music education in our community. Coeur d'Alene Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Post Falls has received a $1.25 million LWCF grant to build the Quarry Sports Complex with phase one upgrades featuring two multipurpose fields, a parking lot, a concessions building, an entry plaza + maintenance yard. Construction will begin in March or April and later phases may add a playground + sports courts as the city finalizes plans. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Velocity thanked fans for their extra boost in its playoff win and credited the supportive crowd for powering the team to a crucial victory+ players celebrated the success and now plan to build on the momentum in upcoming games. KXLY
