  • Local residents have found a mysterious vending machine in Post Falls that gives free items to users. Officials say it has sparked community interest—more details on its operation are expected to be released soon.  KXLY
  • At 1765 W. Golf Course Road, the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center works with Press Christmas for All to help neighbors in the 83815 area—assisting a longtime member to leave homelessness and helping a resident pay for car repairs so she could keep her job. Community specialist Jules Cosby said the program uses donations to provide practical support like education and wellness programs.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Need A Little Christmas returns for its third year with festive music, joyful storytelling and heartfelt tributes at the Midge and Pepper Smock Family Theatre at the Kroc from Dec. 5 to Dec. 22. Produced by TOCNW Productions and written by Laura Little Theatricals, the performance—featuring choreographed tap numbers and a military tribute—will include an ASL-interpreted show on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Forest Service said permits for cutting Christmas trees are now available for the 2025 holiday season in Idaho Panhandle National Forests—each permit costs $5 with three per household, and fourth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass can get one for free. The permit system is meant to thin small trees to help improve forest health.  KHQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Traffic will use the new I-90 westbound off-ramp onto SH-41 today after the Idaho Transportation Department removed the temporary signal at the Seltice Way Interchange—crews had closed it in early March to work on the upgrade. The final phase of the project will open all remaining SH-41 lanes in spring.  Coeur d'Alene Press
