- ➤ St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho warming shelter on Seltice Way opens when temperatures hit 33° and is expected to fill its 25 beds as cold nights continue—guests from Kootenai County can access food, clothing, and a shuttle to meals. - ➤ Keira, a college student, and her partner Ryan moved back home after an unplanned pregnancy so she could continue her online studies with family support—receiving two months' rent and food cards from the Press Christmas for All campaign. - ➤ Lake Coeur d’Alene holds metal-rich sediments from a century of mining upstream while recent nutrient runoff from lawns, roads, and stormwater now boosts algae growth and low oxygen risks in its southern area.
