After Wednesday's windstorm, Avista crews restored power for 86% of customers while over 350 workers continue repairs (some Silver Valley customers will see power returned by Sunday).
Hayden Homes, Simplicity, and First Story carried out a philanthropic campaign this December, donating $66,000 plus over 2,500 lbs of food to local food banks (supporting Idaho Food Bank, Post Falls Food Bank, and Second Harvest Inland Northwest) to help fight food insecurity among families.
Canopy Village announced Wednesday the appointment of Rosa Mettler as executive director.
With over 11 years in clinical leadership, she will oversee operations as the organization— the region’s only youth home—prepares to serve over 400 children this Christmas + the reorganization strengthens support amid growing community needs.

Lakeland High School celebrated Friday’s annual blood drive that collected 85 units to help local hospitals (up to 255 people will benefit) and will receive a $5,000 check from Vitalant to support STEM programs.
The event was organized by the Honor Society with help from students and staff.
Post Falls Police and Avista confirmed that a viral alligator sighting was actually a misplaced plastic decoration found in the Spokane River near the Post Falls Dam.

Unpredictable weather has stalled ski operations at Lookout Pass and Silver Mountain since closures last Thursday due to warm weather and strong winds.
