On Friday, May 30, Numerica Credit Union will donate $1 to Canopy Village for every beverage sold at Jitterz Espresso — a nonprofit that helps children and families in crisis — with donations capped at $15,000 under the CARES for Kids program.

16-year-old Addy Jasmin and her friends stopped near U.S. 95 15 miles south of Coeur d’Alene on a warm Sunday afternoon and found four frightened kittens abandoned in a crate with a small amount of food and water.

They drove the crate to Coeur d’Alene, where by May 21 the kittens were adopted — officials stressed that abandoning animals is illegal — after the rescue.

Lewis-Clark State College announced its spring honor roll that names Kootenai County students, including those from Post Falls such as Alycia Carter, Joel Collie, Isaac Elonen, and others, on its president's and dean's lists — the school recognized outstanding academic achievement across multiple campuses. The list highlights local student success and will be used to honor academic excellence during the spring term.

North Idaho’s top young inventors will compete at the Invention Convention U.S. Nationals in Dearborn, Mich from June 4th-6th; they advanced after 110 students showcased projects at the state finals at the University of Idaho — with entries ranging from underwater farming to pedestrian safety solutions.

Idaho legislators met with state leaders on Friday to study proposals in House Bill 138 that would make 11 Medicaid changes before 2026 to keep expansion intact.

The plan would shift care to telehealth and community clinics and include on-time reimbursement while a case management firm monitors changes — a move aimed at protecting vulnerable patients.
